How are Two Piece Boxes Assembled?

Two piece boxes are assembled through a controlled five-step manufacturing sequence that creates two rigid components, a base and a lid, with precise fit and structural stability.

  1. Board cutting: Rigid greyboard sheets with a thickness range of 1.5 mm to 3 mm are die-cut into panels based on finalized box length, width, depth, and load tolerance. Separate cutting layouts are prepared for the base tray and the top lid.
  2. Tray and lid forming: Cut panels are folded and edge-glued to form two independent shells. The base is formed with a higher wall depth, while the lid is formed with calculated clearance for overlap and grip.
  3. Dimensional alignment: The lid is test-fitted onto the base to confirm internal tolerance, wall squareness, and opening resistance. Adjustments are made at this stage to prevent a loose fit or lid jamming.
  4. Paper wrapping: Printed or specialty paper is wrapped over each shell using adhesive bonding. Corners are hand-turned or machine-folded to maintain sharp edges and consistent surface tension.
  5. Finishing and inspection: Surface treatments such as lamination, foil stamping, or embossing are applied. Each box is inspected for corner adhesion, wrap alignment, lid symmetry, and surface defects before packing.

Ideal for Luxury Brands

Two piece boxes support luxury brands that require a precise lid-to-base fit, rigid wall strength, and consistent opening control across production batches.

These boxes are used by brands that require:

  • Retail packaging with defined shelf presence

  • Gift packaging for high-value items

  • Secure box closure through friction-fit lids

  • Structural protection for delicate products

  • Reusable rigid boxes retained by customers
